OBSTETRICS & GYNAECOLOGICAL NURSING

 

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecological
Nursing proposes an equivalent combination of education and experience with the
aim to enrich the life of women and children by offering most effective nursing
education to professionals towards optimizing health of women and children in
ever changing health care environment. It offers a comprehensive knowledge
necessary for the modern health care of women with up-to date clinically
relevant information.

The department provides courses for
GNM and B.Sc. students related to obstetrics and gynaecological nursing within
the framework of the curriculum by West Bengal University of Health Sciences
and Indian Nursing Council to prepare the students as highly competent and well
trained caregivers for the overall safety and well-being of women from the
moment of menarche to menopause and the neonates.

 

The department takes pride in
exalting students’ excellence in clinical practice and community services &
enable them to perform their responsibilities as a registered nurse and
specialists, educators, and administrators in a wide variety of Obstetric and
Gynaecological care setting.

 

The Department is also committed to
facilitating students’ personal and professional development within a
supportive, respectful, and flexible environment. The clinical laboratories
provide students with an opportunity to learn and develop the skills essential
to midwifery practice. During the time spent in the clinical skill
laboratories, students are introduced to a range of clinical skills essential
for safe practice under supervision.

 

The clinical services of the
department include clinical supervision of students, patient care, In-service
education, conduction of awareness programs, health screening, clinical

  • Impart quality education to the students in the field of Obstetrics and Gynecological Nursing.
  • Apply innovative teaching strategies that enhance the progress of the students.
  • Prepare students to provide family-centered comprehensive care to reproductive age group women and neonates.
  • Ensure excellent academic performance and overall development of students in both clinical and theory.
  • Encourage the students to participate actively in curricular and co-curricular activities.
  • Encourage and support the students to involve in outreach programmes in order to create awareness among public to promote the welfare of the maternal and child health care.
