IQ City Institute of Nursing Sciences organized a workshop on Empowering Future Nurses: A Comprehensive Workshop on Palliative Care on 14TH &16TH AUGUST ,2024, 9am Atreya Hall
,IQCMCH. The workshop was according to the latest syllabus, a 20-hours mandatory module on Palliative Care included in the 4th semester (second year) of the four year BSc Nursing Course. The workshop started with inaugural speech by Prof.Dr.Jeyadeepa.R, Principal ,IQINS.
The program was followed by scientific session Day 1 . The first eminent speaker was
Dr. Premnath Dutta ,Assistant Professor ,Department of Radiotherapy Jalpaiguri Medical College &Hospital discussing on the topic Evolution and concept of palliative care ,the session was Chaired by Mr.Binu Xavier, Professor,, IQINS. It was followed by interactive session with the audience .There was active involvement of the students and faculties during the session
The second speaker was Prof.Dr.Jeyadeepa.R,Principal,, IQINS on the topic Importance and Ethical aspects of palliative care chaired by Ms.Tintu Annie Mathew , Associate Professor
IQINS.The session was discussed with case scenario.Third session was discussed by Ms.Vijayalakshmi. G, Professor, IQINS on the topic Optimization of palliative care chaired by Dr.Rupali Masih , Associate Professor, IQINS.
Afternoon was followed by skill session demonstrated by three staff nurse of IQCMCH. Mr. Amit Manna ,Staff Nurse IQCMCH demonstrated on Wound Care . Mr.Rajesh Das ,Shift Incharge , IQCMCH demonstrated on Assisting In Thoracocentesis. Ms.Hoimanti Chakraborty Staff Nurse IQCMCH demonstrated on Tracheostomy care.
Scientific session Day 2 was started with briefing done by Ms.Sunanda Mahata,Senior Tutor , IQINS of the previous sessions . The first speaker was Ms. Riba Haobam ,Assistant Professor IQINS, discussing on the topic Concept of pain in Palliative Care,the session was Chaired by Mr.Binu Xavier,Professor,, IQINS.
The second speaker was Mr.Binu Xavier,Professor,, IQINS on the topic Communication skills in palliative care chaired by Mr.Jogendro , Assistant Professor IQINS . Third session was discussed by Prof .Kripa Angeline .A,Nursing Superintendent ,MGMCH , Puducherry on the topic Pharmacological and non –pharmacological nursing interventions in pain relief care chaired by Prof.Dr.Jeyadeepa.R,Principal,, IQINS.The session was in virtual mode .
Afternoon was followed by skill session demonstrated by three staff nurse of IQCMCH. Mr. Kartik Maity ,Staff Nurse IQCMCH demonstrated on Assisting in indwelling ascetic catheter placement.
Mr. Sandip Ghorai , Staff Nurse, IQCMCH demonstrated on Lymphoedema Management. Mr.Astrag Pradhan Staff Nurse IQCMCH demonstrated on Bladder Care .
All the resource person and demonstrator were given momento and gifts as token of appreciation .
The workshop help to make the student nurses be aware about the nurses roles and responsibilities regarding palliative care .And the comprehensive care and treatment to be provided for the patients .
The program was folded with the vote of thanks by Ms.Riba Haobam ,Asst . Professor , IQCINS.
